Your Love Story (Part 2): London Trip

Firesola brought me back from my thoughts. I know that sound. She is hungry. Seun has become so engrossed with her career that she has neglected her family. Firesola was just 9 months old when she attended that seminar that opened up doors. That was how she explained it. The doors, however were not wide enough to accommodate her husband and her 9 months old baby. When I bring up discussions about taking care of Firesola, I get shocked at what she says.

I fed Firesola and prepared her for bed. Seun promised to come home that night. I miss her. I stayed up till some minutes past midnight when she drove in. I had given her my car to ease her movements. She walked in full of smiles. It’s been a while she smiled in this house. What’s the good news? She came in and said ‘Finally, I got it’. I was lost. ‘Got what? What did you get’?

I got the reply as she walked into our room; London! The excitement in her voice was like salt on my wounds. She explained that she has been working hard all the while so that she can be chosen for a training in London. She got selected today! Wow. I asked how long the training is. Her answer almost brought tears to my face. ‘You will spend 6 months away from home’? That night, Seun and I had the biggest argument since we met.
My major concern is about Firesola. Taking care of her alone has been herculean. I have never liked the idea of keeping her at a nanny, but Seun convinced me when she wanted to resume work after her maternity leave ended. I agreed because I had no choice. We pick her up latest by 5pm and take her there on our way to work in the morning. Seun has not been available to do this since that seminar. Even during weekends, Seun is out putting some finishing touches to some things at work.

Now, she wants to go for 6 months. I will be a fool to agree with this. The following day, I expected Seun till midnight. After the argument, she went to bed without food and didn’t say a word to me the following day. I tried to make her see reasons why she should stay with us for now, but she kept saying that I’m standing on the path of her progress. I woke up around 2am and Seun was still not back. I tried her phone again. She has not been answering my calls.

As early as I could, I went to her office. I met her looking radiant. ‘Did this lady sleep over here?’ my mind argued. Seun has never given me a reason not to trust her. Maybe she passed the night in a hotel. She didn’t give me much attention. The only thing I could make out of our short conversation was that she stayed away from home because I wasn’t giving her peace. I felt hurt. She showed me the door without even looking at my face.

My God, what is happening? I loaded her that day with text messages apologizing for the other night. I begged her to come home. After a while she replied that she doesn’t plan to come home unless I agree with her trip to London. Am I the insane one or this girl has gone crazy? I spoke with some of our mutual friends and they all could not get her to come home. I called Pastor. She still didn’t agree. I was surprised. Seun has never been this disrespectful. Seun stayed away from home for 4 days before I agreed to the trip. I couldn’t handle it any longer. I gave in. Allowing Seun to travel is not what gave me concern, but the nudge I keep getting from my heart showed that it was a wrong decision.

That evening, she came home and stayed at the door. We looked at ourselves for about a minute before she said ‘I’m leaving tomorrow.’ I offered to take her to the airport, but she refused my offer. She was going with her colleagues that were chosen from work too. I insisted that I would like to give her a final goodbye at the airport, even if it means going there by myself. At the airport, she gave me a light hug. Her perfume has always been tangible for me to hold. I made her promise that we would speak every night. My heart sort of quaked at the sight of her leaving. Something is wrong, but I couldn’t figure it out. Whatever happens, I promised myself that I will always be in love with this girl.

Prophetic Perspective: Israel vs Iran

The middle east situation between Israel and Palestine is a very complex one that can be viewed from many sides. Whichever perspective you choose, there will always be an unresolved issue. It is exactly a year that Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine, dealt the biggest blow ever to the Israeli state, killing over 1000 Jews and abducting about 251. It sent a shock wave round the world. The October 7, 2023 attacks kick-started a war that has escalated to involve Lebanon, Syria, Qatar and Iran. Israel has gone all out attacking Palestine in a wave that many world leaders have been cautioning them to consider the civilians. ORIGIN OF THE WAR The origin of the war in the middle east can be traced back to the 1920s when Britain, in conjunction with the Arabs defeated the Ottoman military in Jerusalem and took the city as a colony of the British royalty.  It wasn't long before the British decided to release the land to the Arabs that fought alongside them. But, there was another set of ...

Nigeria In The Bible

As we approach another celebration of the independence of the nation Nigeria, I will like us to know some things about this nation that the LORD has shown me. If a man wants to know the details of God's will for his life, he would need to read the things that have been written or said about him by God. Prophecy is one of the ways that the will of God can be known. Prophecy is voicing God's will. This same principle applies to territories as territories also have a will established by God for them to fulfill. In the scriptures, we see details of many nations that existed in that time. Nations like Israel, Egypt, Syria, Edom, Philistine, Babylon and in the new testament, we saw countries like Italy and Spain which still exists till today. Most of the nations that were mentioned in the old testament bear a new name today. There were some nations mentioned in the old testament, but their names were not specified. God, through the prophets spoke about the destiny of some na...

EndSARS: Prophetic Intelligence

Some moments ago, the LORD reminded me of the things He shared with me during the protests. As usual, when I hear of an event in Nigeria or on the global scene, I would go to God for prophetic intelligence. I have always shared how that prophetic (spiritual) intelligence is the highest form of reality. When we seek God's counsel about an issue in our life, family or work, we are seeking prophetic intelligence. If we seek it for different issues in our life, how much more would it be of greater premium when we seek it for happenings in our nation. The ENdSARS protests started without any prior notice. There was no signal to it in the physical and it gathered momentum within days so much that many were surprised that Nigerians could stand up for their right. As the protests were going on, I went to God to find out His thoughts about the protests. In following God in the last days, many have missed the trail because they arrange things based on the knowledge of good and evil. We...
