In the 1980s, the destiny of Nigeria became very pertinent in the heart of God as several prophets all over the world began to hear the Spirit of God speak about Nigeria. A very interesting one was from a meeting in USA where God revealed that the devil has placed a high ranking demon on 3 nations that he believes would be very instrumental to the coming back of Jesus. The first nation, unarguably was Israel. The second like you would guess is USA. The third is one of the most despised nations today- Nigeria. Around that time, a prophetic gathering held in London and a prophet was shown a land that was completely covered with darkness. He saw light shining at intervals with intense cries. Suddenly, there was a bright light that swept the land and took away all the darkness. He asked what this, means and the LORD told him that the land he saw is country called Nigeria. I started my study before the political formation of the country. The land has always existed, but the country came into existence in 1914 when Lord Lugard amalgamated the northern and southern protectorate. Historically, the community of the land that is now known as Nigeria existed in tribes. The northern Hausa and Kanuri tribes and the middle belt’s Birom, Tiv, Nupe and moving towards the forest west, we have the Yoruba. The south is largely Igbos, Efik, Ibibios and others. Being a Nigerian becomes messier by the day. International organizations and countries continue to see us as the set of people with corruption wired in our DNA. The situation is not encouraged by constant arrest of Nigerians involved in fraud and related offences. Not putting all the blame on Nigeria in diaspora alone, the ones within the shores of the country are involved in some of the worst kind of practices on the face of the earth today. The situation is like a sore that would not heal. All of these can make one wonder why you are born into this country that looks God forsaken. Why would God choose Nigeria as your birth place?
