Being a Nigerian becomes messier by the day. International organizations and countries continue to see us as the set of people with corruption wired in our DNA. The situation is not encouraged by constant arrest of Nigerians involved in fraud and related offences. Not putting all the blame on Nigeria in diaspora alone, the ones within the shores of the country are involved in some of the worst kind of practices on the face of the earth today. The situation is like a sore that would not heal.
All of these can make one wonder why you are born into this country that looks God forsaken. Why would God choose Nigeria as your birth place? What happened to Canada? Or even Botswana? Well, I do a lot of research into the history of Nigeria and it has changed my mindset about this country. I do not read history books alone, I go after the word of the Lord to the land too. The past, present and future of Nigeria excites me because the LORD has, by His Grace and Mercy shown me quite a number of things about the destiny of this land.
Early this year, I did a series on the Jihad that held 200 years ago in Nigeria and then I have also shared a number of posts about Nigeria in the bible. The LORD has said some things in the past and this is what gives me joy over the land. I have also read many prophecies about Nigeria from Intercessors for Nigeria, Cindy Jacobs, S.G. Elton, Olubi Johnson, Sadhu Sundar Selvaraj Jonathan Davids, Christian Youth Alliance and many more.
In all, I have seen able to see the direction of the plan of God for Nigeria. It is very exciting because the plan is one of the greatest I have ever seen. It’s more than what you can refer to as epic. Nigeria, as a book would be a bestseller that would trump Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and any other book you can refer to as the best. As a movie, it would break every single record and smash the cinema ratings you have ever seen.
From tragedy to hope, suspense, love and victory, Nigeria has experienced different shades of life and has miraculously survived what has wrecked many nations. So far, it is obvious that there is a force behind the story of this black nation; a force that seems to steer the wheels of the nation to a place. The country has veered off several times, but the force keeps showing up when hope is almost over.
From the earliest stories of West Africa, Nigeria has been full of surprises that must have been intrusions from the third heaven. One time United Nations Secretary General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali once said that Nigeria has a way of pulling up surprises when you are about to give up on the nation. Nigeria has the largest population in Africa and 7th most populous in the world. There is no country with half of the Nigeria’s population in Africa!
The end of Nigeria is going to be the greatest shock this world would see. Some things have been said about Nigeria and the knowledge of it will surely get you excited! I would share about that in my next blog post!!!
