The Arts world is one of the very powerful sphere of influence that the man whose will is aligned with God and the devil have recognized. This sphere of influence holds a great sway over children and youths that form the next generation. Just like the education sphere.
Arts include all the creative abilities that God has put in man, but I will major on music and fashion for the purpose of this series. Music and fashion have been used in the past to shape the world.
Music is almost as old as man. Some circles believe it is even older since there is music in heaven. I may not be able to dispute that, but what is certain is that music exists in every tribe and has played a role in the formation of the culture of the tribe.
The kind of music a people listen to is determined by their values. The Jews exemplified this in Babylon when they refused to sing the Lord's song because they were in a strange land. They considered the song to be sacred and can only by sung under certain conditions.
Considering how powerful songs are, it has been a major tool in the battle for the earth. There have been men who advanced the course of both sides. An evergreen example is King David who shaped the culture of the Jews with his Psalms. Till date, the psalms form a major part of our doctrines, prayers and expectations.
Negro spirituals still remain fresh in the heart of many Americans as the songs that kept their parents alive in the days of the slave trade. They needed comfort, the Lord gave them songs! Whether musicians are aware or not, deliberate or not, songs shape the earth! Songs are powerful so the battle for the prevailing songs is fierce.
On the other side, you find men who did not just push out bad vibes, they projected themselves as role models which opened up the world to a new set of cultural beliefs. A classic on this side is Elton John who was one of the foremost men to publicly declare himself to be homosexual.
Michael Jackson and Beyonce Knowles singlehandedly changed the thinking pattern of millions. They are more than musicians. They are people used to beat the world into a particular shape. May God give you understanding. Today, music has been used to legalize fornication and push adultery into the pockets of many.
All these are not coincidental. They are results of battles over the earth. I once wrote about sounds. The prevailing sounds/music determines the prevailing atmosphere. It's real. God is raising many persons in music. To make the earth attain the shape He has in mind.
