Nigeria In The Bible

As we approach another celebration of the independence of the nation Nigeria, I will like us to know some things about this nation that the LORD has shown me.

If a man wants to know the details of God's will for his life, he would need to read the things that have been written or said about him by God. Prophecy is one of the ways that the will of God can be known. Prophecy is voicing God's will.

This same principle applies to territories as territories also have a will established by God for them to fulfill. In the scriptures, we see details of many nations that existed in that time. Nations like Israel, Egypt, Syria, Edom, Philistine, Babylon and in the new testament, we saw countries like Italy and Spain which still exists till today.

Most of the nations that were mentioned in the old testament bear a new name today. There were some nations mentioned in the old testament, but their names were not specified. God, through the prophets spoke about the destiny of some nations that will exist in the last days.

One of such is found in Isaiah 18 verses 1,2 and 7. The description given in these verses shows that the nation is an African nation west of Ethiopia, it is divided by rivers and it has borders with the sea. This same nation was mentioned in Zephaniah 3:10.

Map of Africa showing major rivers

Checking the map of Africa, there are many countries west of Ethiopia that borders the sea and also has a river passing through them, but interestingly, only one country west of Ethiopia borders the sea and is divided by rivers and that country is Nigeria!

This portion of scripture doesn't just describe Nigeria's physical structures, it also provides insight into what her destiny looks like. Isaiah says that God will send swift messengers (Angels) to this nation that he describes as a nation with tall and smooth skinned people.

Paul talked about growing up to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ in Ephesians 4 and he also described the bride of Jesus as a church without spot, wrinkle, blemish or any such thing in Ephesians 5.

Can you see what God is going to bring out of Nigeria? Let me put it together: a tall people - the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. A smooth skinned people - without spot, wrinkle, blemish or any such thing.

Isaiah concludes by saying that this nation will bring a present to the LORD in Zion. That seals it completely! These all signifies that Nigeria will produce a church that will attain the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ and be without spot, wrinkle, blemish or any auch thing. A perfect church (Zion) will arise from Nigeria in the last days!

This looks very impossible at this time if you look at what currently obtains in the church. The essence of this article is so that you can begin to pray that the purpose of God for Nigeria will come to pass. There are many other prophecies about Nigeria by many people in several nations of the world.

Nigeria is a prophetic country, created and owned by God. Pray for Nigeria.

Prophetic Perspective: Israel vs Iran

The middle east situation between Israel and Palestine is a very complex one that can be viewed from many sides. Whichever perspective you choose, there will always be an unresolved issue. It is exactly a year that Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine, dealt the biggest blow ever to the Israeli state, killing over 1000 Jews and abducting about 251. It sent a shock wave round the world. The October 7, 2023 attacks kick-started a war that has escalated to involve Lebanon, Syria, Qatar and Iran. Israel has gone all out attacking Palestine in a wave that many world leaders have been cautioning them to consider the civilians. ORIGIN OF THE WAR The origin of the war in the middle east can be traced back to the 1920s when Britain, in conjunction with the Arabs defeated the Ottoman military in Jerusalem and took the city as a colony of the British royalty.  It wasn't long before the British decided to release the land to the Arabs that fought alongside them. But, there was another set of ...

Shameful Calling?

After my last story about David, the official bastard. I got a call from someone, a lady and she said "Olanrewaju, can you please share my story on your blog? It would encourage your readers". After considering it, I decided to hear it first, but after I heard her story, I knew it would be perfect for you! I interviewed her and this is what I got: Olanrewaju: Can you please share your story with me? My New Friend: I will tell you about my life before I got married. I was a very modest lady who attracted praises from her parents, respect from the church members, admiration from the young men and of course, envy from some sisters. However, I remained humble, purposeful and pure. Even the pastor used me as an example as he was preaching one of his long sermons. Olanrewaju (thinking): That's a wonderful résumé! My New Friend: I got engaged to a young man in our church. He was God-fearing and he loved me with the whole of his heart. We had our introduction in a mod...
