When I was in the university, I asked some of my friends who they thought is the worst person living on earth. Many of them mentioned Shekau. I could remember one of them mentioned Lady Gaga.
The people on earth at this time are the worst when compared with other generations in history. However, as bad as the people on earth could be at this time, when we check through the eyes of God, we see what we refer to as Passion for Souls.
Paul told Timothy that God does not want anyone to perish. Can you imagine that! God doesn't want Shekau to perish. He wants everyone to be saved. This passion for souls makes me to rethink the way I see people of the world.
We call them lost souls, but God doesn't see them as lost. At least, not yet. Some of them do things we consider as very terrible ranging from abortion to homosexuality and they are so bold about it, but how does God sees them.
Sometimes ago, God took Ezekiel on an excursion to the valley of dry bones. On getting there, God took him round the whole place and he saw very dry bones. The owners of the bones must have been dead a long time ago. Then God asked him if the bones can live again!
What Ezekiel saw in the valley was dry bones, but God saw an exceedingly great army. When you pass by a garage full of young men smoking and rejoicing in thuggery, what do you see? Do you see wasted lives or you see men who could stand for God and take nations?
Do you have passion for souls?
About a month ago, I saw a lady drinking alcohol for the first time in my life and I was really shocked. Somehow, that lady has the potential to be another Mother Teresa or perhaps Mary Slessor. When you see souls that do not belong to Christ, how do you feel?
While I was serving, I visited Katsina state on NCCF assignment and the President of NCCF Katsina chapter shared something. He said anytime they see people that do not belong to Christ, they begin to lament and scream: "see souls!"
God wants all men to be saved! God wants all men to be saved!! God wants all men to be saved!!! You have tasted Christ and you know what it means to be in Christ, are you sharing it with unbelievers? Or you think they are not worthy? They are too dirty to be washed?
2 Timothy 4:2 Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching.
