Beauty For Ashes

This morning, I visited a catholic secondary school in Ibadan and after the principal addressed the students, she announced that the Rev'd Father is around to put ash on the foreheads of the students because today is the Ash Wednesday. After a brief word, he started drawing a cross using the ash in a plate with his right thumb.

I stood at a distance and quietly watched the scene. I asked my friends that we were standing together: "what's the significance of Ash Wednesday?" I went back into the streets of meditation immediately I asked the question. Ash is the solid remains of a burnt thing. It means that before we can get ash, something must be burnt.

Earlier in the day, I had checked scriptures where ash was mentioned and very interestingly, I came across a word while I studied. It is MISTAKE! We make mistakes; I often think that I have made so much and I wonder if God's purpose for my life is still intact. I mean, haven't I spoiled God's plan as a result of my mistakes?

There are times I feel I should have been more diligent about some things or have had more patience before making a decision or if I have sought for counsel or utilized some counsel I got. So I brought out a question from my thoughts. Have I spoiled God's plan as a result of my mistakes?

It's possible that am not the only one that have asked this question. Some may still be asking the question. I know every answer I could need is in the bible so I studied to see the answer. One chapter that seemed to answer the question perfectly is Romans 8. The chapter showed me how that God has seen this ahead and made a provision to make sure that our mistakes do not take us out of His course.

God has a way of creating something beautiful from ashes. Verse 26 to 30 showed me the process of bringing out sense from our nonsense. When we remain the house of prayer, the Holy Spirit helps our infirmities such that our mistakes are channeled to bring out the purpose of God in making us conform to His Son.

I like the way NLT puts it. "...God causes everything to work for our good...". God is a specialist in diverting our mistakes into experiences that make us to be like Jesus eventually. So, if you have stopped believing, believe again and if you are believing, don't be tired of believing. There is no situation too hard for God. He knows how to bring out beauty from ashes and He doesn't give up!

Your purpose is intact; love the Lord with your heart; keep believing.

Prophetic Perspective: Israel vs Iran

The middle east situation between Israel and Palestine is a very complex one that can be viewed from many sides. Whichever perspective you choose, there will always be an unresolved issue. It is exactly a year that Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine, dealt the biggest blow ever to the Israeli state, killing over 1000 Jews and abducting about 251. It sent a shock wave round the world. The October 7, 2023 attacks kick-started a war that has escalated to involve Lebanon, Syria, Qatar and Iran. Israel has gone all out attacking Palestine in a wave that many world leaders have been cautioning them to consider the civilians. ORIGIN OF THE WAR The origin of the war in the middle east can be traced back to the 1920s when Britain, in conjunction with the Arabs defeated the Ottoman military in Jerusalem and took the city as a colony of the British royalty.  It wasn't long before the British decided to release the land to the Arabs that fought alongside them. But, there was another set of ...

Nigeria In The Bible

As we approach another celebration of the independence of the nation Nigeria, I will like us to know some things about this nation that the LORD has shown me. If a man wants to know the details of God's will for his life, he would need to read the things that have been written or said about him by God. Prophecy is one of the ways that the will of God can be known. Prophecy is voicing God's will. This same principle applies to territories as territories also have a will established by God for them to fulfill. In the scriptures, we see details of many nations that existed in that time. Nations like Israel, Egypt, Syria, Edom, Philistine, Babylon and in the new testament, we saw countries like Italy and Spain which still exists till today. Most of the nations that were mentioned in the old testament bear a new name today. There were some nations mentioned in the old testament, but their names were not specified. God, through the prophets spoke about the destiny of some na...

Nine Years As A Scribe

So, last night, I was meditating about the things that God is doing in this times and it dawned on me that we are in a period where our minds are being bombarded with images, video and text. We are in the greatest period of media height. Everywhere you turn, you see something waiting for your mind to feed on. You're not free at any point in time from the floods coming from the various platforms. Majority of the contents in recent years are immoral and the cry for biblically sound and creative content has been going on for some years. Thank God for the success that we have recorded in the past few years. The media is being used to project several images into our minds. I did a small social experiment last month. I was speaking to a group of young boys in a school about Bobrisky. I asked how many of them would like to be like him and no one raised hand. Then I changed the question and said that if I tell you that I would give you 1 million every month and all I want from you is to be...
