Introversion is a posture of the soul where a person is more interested in what goes on within him or her than what happens outside. This trait affects their social character so much that some can be characterised as non-social.
Our upbringing has a lot of effect on our soul that makes us to have different temperaments. This is not a final sentence as they can be remodelled into another structure.
The Salvation offered by Jesus Christ is not meant for the spirit alone, but it is such that it brings the entire spirit, soul and body of man into wholeness according to God's standard.
The soul which comprises of the mind, will and emotions is not exempted from the redemptive power of Jesus as different patterns in the soul can be saved to align with the pattern Son's (Jesus) soul.
However, every temperament should be renewed to the unique pattern that God wants it to have in Christ. Every person has a part of their soul that must be similar to Christ and some aspects that must align with the purpose of the person, also in Christ. As a result of this, we can have different strengths and weaknesses. Take note that core values of Jesus- fruits of the Spirit, should not be referred to as a weakness of anyone.
An introvert has some unique attributes that God considers golden. The ability to pay attention to the inward parts and maintain a communication with the unseen realm is a goldmine for intimacy with the Spirit. I found out that it is so easy for me to discuss with the Holy Spirit through my mind than to have discussion with any human.
This singular attribute puts introverts in a pole position to always be available for God. Now, this is not automatic as many introverts in history are known to pour their passion into science (Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Isaac Newton), some into writing (JK Rowling) and some into arts.
Introverts are often creative as they are found in music, arts, writing and science discoveries and innovations. As cool as this looks, an introvert becoming a leader could be scary as a leader must be a master in communication. Christian leadership can accommodate introverts to an extent, but not without challenges. As an introvert, I have found my major challenges in the area of meeting new persons, negotiation and communication.
They impact my work a lot and some have actually gave up on me. It's all fine. I have come to recognize that I am not sick. It is not a disadvantage. Although, some women often embarrass me at times when they come at me because I would not talk much. I have learnt to distant myself from such folks as much as possible.
Every experience in God can be used by God to lead us and others to Christ. He is an expert in bringing out beauty from ashes. Being an introvert means you pay more attention to your inner thoughts which makes it easy for the Holy Spirit to reach you. It is very consoling to know that God can be an actual friend that understands. He doesn't nag or neglect you when He doesn't hear from you.
For me, I can confidently say that God is my best friend. Extroverts may not understand how that is possible, but it has been my lifeline for years!
