If you are a consistent reader of my writings, you will know that I have always advocated for gaining knowledge for the right reasons. When you hear something that sounds new or spooky, the right response is to find out what it means and what the LORD will have you do about the new knowledge. Bible confirms it that grace is multiplied by knowledge. SO we must always seek to expand our knowledge of God, not for the lust of high sounding words, but for the embodiment of the entire lamb.
Beerlahairoi is the name of a well in the book of Genesis. Hagar had just been pushed to have sex with Abraham by her boss, Sarah. She become proud of her new position and this didn’t go so well with Sarah. Sarah could not take the fact that she now had to share Abraham with her slave, who had even become pregnant. The battle was a simple one. She made the house unbearable for the Egyptian slave; she ran away.
On her way, she met an Angel by a well. The Angel queried her about her journey, scolded her and ask her to return to Sarah. The name of the well is Beerlahairoi which means the well of the Living One who sees me. The person who dug the well was not mentioned, but whoever named that well certainly had an encounter. Hagar did not build the well, she found it!
A well in the scriptures is used to represent an abundant measure of God situated in a place or person. Jesus, in John 7, shouted that for everyone who believes, out of him shall flow rivers. Isaiah spoke of the dimensions of God within him as wells (Isa 12:3). As it were, we all carry a well of God in us which can increase in measure to become a river. The well of God is us is dug by God Himself as He takes us on the journey into Himself. Taking a cue from Isaiah, we know that I is possible to have wells within a man which means that you have several dimensions of God within you.
Also, just like Hagar found a well, there are wells around us that have been dug in men of old. We often refer to them as mantles. When a person goes to be with the LORD, his mantle is still available to be picked up. It can also be put as the wells of God in him can still be found. Just like the Jews and Samarians held on to the well dug by Jacob, we can also find wells around us, dug by the LORD.
There is another interesting story about wells in the book of Numbers where the Israelites got to a well where God had told Moses to gather the people so He could give them water. The Israelites sang of the well- ‘spring up, oh well’. This is significant as it shows that we can use music to stir up wells. The Psalmist in Ps 87:7- ‘Both the singers and the players on instruments say all my springs are in you’.
This article is aimed at explaining the type and shadow that a well poses in the bible and to introduce you to a series that the LORD would have me do about the wells available in Nigeria. Some of these wells have been ‘lost in the wilderness’ and we need priests to sing to make them spring up again so that we can partake of these wells of God.
