Topic: Making Disciples
Text: Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Myles Munroe of blessed memory said that when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. It is important that we know the essence of all that Jesus Christ did for us. The verse of our study for this week is preceded by an emphatic statement made by Jesus Himself. He said that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him, so He commanded His disciples to go into the nations and make disciples.
This means that the essence of the authority that Jesus collected is for us to make disciples in every nation. This is a calling that God rests upon the shoulders of men who have, themselves been discipled. The job of making disciples can therefore, be done by a disciple. Jesus discipled the 12 apostles before commissioned them to go and also make disciples.
In this last days, verses of the bible like Ezekiel 22:30 where God announced that he is seeking for a man, is very pronounced. God does not have enough men in the earth today and this is as a result of our deficiency in making disciples. Jesus had enough men to work with, even though they were just 11 that made it through.
We seem to have many disciples of pastors and general overseers and we have very little disciples of Jesus. We must become deliberate at raising disciples for the Lord so that we can have more men that can wield the authority of Jesus. Until a man is discipled, he won't have access into the authority of Jesus.
I urge you to look around you and identify people that have given their life to Christ and help the press forward on our upward calling into Christ. Let God find a watchman in you at this time.
Have a great week
