Topic: Elisha Generation (Part 2)
Text: 2 Kings 2:1 And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
Last week, I shared about how God is releasing the dimensions that many fathers in the faith walked in upon our generation. The title does not infer a people that belong to Elisha, but a people whose heart posture looks like that of Elisha that qualified him to receive the mantle of Elijah.
The journey to receive the mantle of Elijah started from a very significant place- Gilgal. Gilgal was the place where a generation of Israelites renewed their covenant with God. God told Joshua that the generation that were circumcised among the Israelites were all dead and the generation alive with him needs to be circumcised.
Circumcision represents the covenant of God with Abraham. Gilgal is the place where a new generation comes under a covenant with God. That was where Elisha also found himself at the beginning of the journey to receiving his master's mantle.
The generation was circumcised when they were quite old which would have been very painful. That painful experience was what led to their entry into a new dimension in God. We must also pass through this stage if we will be useful in the plans of God in our days.
There are things that have been stuck to our soul and body that the Lord must removed for us to be suitable to carry the mantle of these fathers. We must not be of them that draw back because of trials and challenges, but we must have the resolve to follow God no matter what. It is this thought pattern that made the Israelites who were already old enough to fight wars to surrender themselves to Joshua's flint.
You must consistently expose yourself to light to take away the things in your soul that you come across on this world. The Holy Spirit through Apostle John said that a man cannot love the world and love God. In fact, anyone that loves the world is considered an enemy of God.
I urge you to let God take you through the process that will establish His nature in your soul. You should not be part of them that draw back unto perdition, but you should be of them that believe in the saving of the soul!
Have a great week;
