Seven Years In Christ- Prayers

Giving testimony as a finalist (FYB) in my fellowship on campus- 2014

My life as a Christian has been a very exciting one. I started out without much physical guidance, but I somehow found mercy from God to start doing some things that I never knew were the right things to do. My religious mind perhaps, taught me to do some things consistently. After I gave my life to Christ, I made it a consistent thing to pray for 30 minutes everyday.

It was a long hard thing to pray for 30 minutes. I would praise God for 15 minutes and ask for the things I wanted for 15 minutes, but it was always a long time for me. I was always checking the time to see if it was already 30 minutes. Whenever I check the time and discover that it wasn't 30 minutes yet, I would stay where I do pray till it's complete.

If I haven't prayed in a day, I would feel very odd sleeping at night. I didn't know that it was a good thing that the Holy Spirit planted in me. Now, I still carry that odd feeling when I haven't prayed in a day. The essence of prayer cannot be over emphasized in the life of a Christian. It is always a great thing to spend time praying for hours.

I believe that the minimum time a Christian should spend praying daily is 1 hour. Anything short of that cannot be able to measure up to the demands of the present season. My friends here in Ibadan would say that 1 hour prayers per day is for baby Christians. I quite agree with them. Consistent prayer is the key to growing in stature with God.

I have found that the key to consistent prayer is to pray. There is no formula for consistency. Prayer must start as a discipline and end as a delight. The is no right time to pray as we have different schedules however, praying in the morning has a role to play in how your day will look like.

I pray mostly at midnight. My prayer time starts late in the night and ends early in the morning. Praying at that time has it advantage and disadvantage. A major disadvantage is that there are times that I have been very tired that I would be on the bed and pray that God should strengthen me to pray, but I would still sleep off. I have learnt experientially that whenever I am tired, I would start praying before I ask God to strengthen me to pray. The strength to pray comes while praying. There have been times that I felt I wouldn't spend up to 10 minutes, but I ended up spending 2 hours or even more.

God will give you the grace to pray while praying and not while you're still on the bed. If you don't have a consistent time that you pray, you would not pray consistently. If you're not consistent in prayers, you will be weak. A friend once explain Luke 18:1 to me that if I am weak, it means am not praying. One of my pastors on campus would say "whenever you want to pray, tell your body to go back to the hostel, but you will remain on the field to pray".

Also, whenever I want to intercede, I do spend more time that I would when I pray for myself. Intercession will afford you more time with God. A labourer is always stronger than the supervisor. If you're not a labourer, you will not have reasons to pray for long hours. Prayers (in the Spirit) builds up the a man.

See, your spirit is always willing to pray, but your flesh is weak. Treat it roughly like Paul the Apostle did. Don't allow your body to dictate when to sleep or when to wake up. Don't be body ruled. Men ought always to pray!

This is the fifth of the seven things I will be sharing about my 7-years journey in Christ

Oranmiyan (Part 3: Origin of Yoruba)

Our journey will begin by identifying who the Yoruba people are. From the stories and relics of the children of the tribe, it is obvious that the projenitors of the tribe were deeply rooted in sorcery. Especially those who constitute the royal families. Their blood lines is soaked in idolatry, divination and sorcery. They know how to access principalities and powers and learn their worship modes. There are many stories about the origin of the Yoruba race. The Yoruba race has two major stories about their origin. One is supernatural. The other is natural The supernatural or divine one said that the supreme being, God, sent a god- Obatala to come and create the earth, but he got drunk and God had to send another god- Oduduwa. This is what some people hold. This school of thought has several loopholes chief of which is that Oduduwa entered Ile Ife in 11AD, but Ife Arts, according to carbon dating goes way back as 500BC which means that there was life in Ile Ife before Oduduwa came in. Oranmiyan (Part 4: Lamurudu vs Oduduwa)

After being forced out of his land, Lamurudu settled in Egypt for some time where he deepened his knowledge in sorcery. He learned several patterns of rituals which still exists in some parts of Ijebu today. At that time, the Egyptians have developed so well in the worship of their gods who were originally men. The concept of gods begins with a man encountering a demonic prince who is looking for obeisance from men. These princes have the same goal as Lucifer. Once they begin to get attention from a man, the man begins to take up their (dark) nature because it is a law in the spirit realm that whatever you behold, you become. The consecration of these men to the worship of the princes led to the reproduction of the abilities and characteristics of the prince in the man, so the man becomes great among other men. Most of these men takes up the name of the prince that they worship such that when the man dies, you can keep calling his name and the prince responds to your request thereby es

Oranmiyan (Part 5: The gods of Egypt)

During the sojourn of Lamurudu in Egypt, what was going on in Egypt at that time was similar to what happened in Genesis 6:1-2 where demonic entities found a way to reproduce themselves in women to establish a race of beings that were not fully humans. These creatures were very big that they were called Giants. They had 6 fingers and toes and unusual strength. Bible refer to them as Nephilims which means mysterious beings who are large and strong. Some other meanings called them fallen ones. They had supernatural abilities and they preyed on full humans. The situation was like what was portrayed in Harry Potter that had pure bloods, half bloods, mud bloods and muggles. The pure bloods were the witches whose both parents are also witches, half blood is a witch with one parent as witch, mud blood has both parents as normal people and muggles are non witches. At that time in Genesis 6, the Nephilims had created another race on earth that paralleled the pure humans. This what why God sent
