In my last post about altars, I shared how that an altar is the junction point between the physical and the spiritual realm. If you want to effect a change in the spiritual realm, you will need the services of an altar. Altars have an ability to 'speak' into the spiritual and how loud the voice of an altar is depends on the spiritual stature of the sacrifice on it.
The functional part of an altar is the sacrifice. An altar without a sacrifice cannot make an impact in the realm of the spirit. In the old testament, sacrifices are offered on altars and the incense rising from it is regarded as a sweet smelling savour to God. Which means that it is the incense rising from an altar that actually reaches out to the realm of the spirit.
These types and shadows paint the realities of the new testament believer. The new testament believer is built as a spiritual altar that can reach out to God and where God can be felt. We are built as living stones fit together to form a temple. The temple is the replacement of the tabernacle that housed the ark of covenant. The Israelites did not need to build altars again when God gave them the blueprint of the tabernacle and the tabernacle gave way to the temple. They all perform the same function. So, since the bible refers to us as the temple of God, we can also be called the tabernacle and altar of God.
When we study the duties performed in the temple, you will have a robust understanding of the set of things the believer and the body of Christ is responsible for. Further more, the temple is built with living stones which are individual members of the body. This means that we are have two levels of altars and sacrifices- the believer and the body.
Individually, we are the altar and we are also the sacrifice on this altar. Paul, admonished us to present our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God. So, as it were, we do not have an altar, we are altars. He told the Corinthian church that death is at work in him so that life will be at work in them. This is the pattern for anyone that wants to fulfill his God given purpose. We are called to a life of sacrifice; sacrifice in prayers-supplication and intercession, praising God, service, fasting, giving, holiness, loving the brethren and unbelievers. These are the sacrifices required from you as an altar.
Jesus showed us this pattern by releasing Himself as the ultimate sacrifice which released enough energy in the realm of the spirit to make a person born again. Sacrifices releases energy to do things in the realm of the spirit. The king of Moab at a certain time was at war with Israel. They were losing the war when the king took his heir and sacrificed him. It was written that a great indignation arose against Israel. So, the potency of an altar is a function of the sacrifices offered on it. As a believer, you are called to be a living sacrifice which means that you are always offering a sacrifice to God. You, as an altar must not be found without a sacrifice at every point in time. This is our life.
We are supposed to be the ones in charge of happenings in the realm of the spirit. We ought not to allow demonic altars speak and dictate things while we are merely reactionary. In any battle, the winner is the one with the initiative- the one on the assault; defense does not win a war. The last days church must realize her calling to dominate the atmosphere with incense coming from sacrifices.
There are priests of several demonic altars that understands this truth very well. They know that when they offer sacrifices, they can dictate what happens in the life of a person, family or a geographical territory. Ana Mendez, a Mexican intercessor, was instructed by the LORD to go into the Atlantic ocean near the Bermuda triangle water region to pray. She gathered a group of intercessors and after adequate preparations, they went to the bottom of this water and they found a structure built like an altar there. They found seats round the altar and they began to pray for it. There have been some suggestions that the abortion taking place in millions all over the world today is a sacrifice on some altars.
We are living in a terrific power play season and the church must understand that our new creation realities and responsibilities is the force given to us to effect changes. Our sacrifices may seem usual to us and nothing spooky, but they are powerful enough to knock out the hoards of sacrifices coming from the demonic realm. I remember a dream I had about an impending attack on a place in Nigeria in 2020. I woke up and the Holy Spirit told me to simply sing a song. I sang the song a couple of times and I had a major physical encounter that night that showed that I had thwarted the impending strike.
Our dominion mandate will only be realized on the strength of sacrifice. We have to be the ones dictating the reality of our atmosphere by the incense coming from our sacrifice. Our sacrifice of praise, giving, prayers, service, walking in love has great impact in the spiritual realm.
