The Middle East: And The Jesus Question (Part 3)

Abraham was the major focus of the middle East until Jesus Christ of Nazareth came on the scene. Jesus broke the barrier that held the promise of Abraham bound to the Jews alone and made it available to everyone that believes in His name. This was not the expectation of the Jews in their messiah. Their thought of the promised messiah was a person that would make them world power like in the days of David.

The work of Jesus gave birth to a set of people referred to today as Christians and the religion known as Christianity. So, Jesus gave Christians a legal claim to the promise of Abraham and it has been evident in the history of the church that there is truly a covenant of Abraham functioning in the lives of Christians. This is much to the chagrin of the Jews who still hold on to the religion that came out of the old testament- Judaism.

Jesus is considered by many Jews as simply a brother. At best, they regard Him as one of the persons who claimed to be the Messiah. They are still expecting a Messiah after the order of king David who conquered many lands and made Jacob supreme among the nations. The disciples of Jesus expected that from Him, but He seemed to have another agenda. So,Jesus is the separating factor between Judaism and Christianity.

Islam began 600 years after the birth of Jesus and the religion took it root in Abraham's blessing, claiming that the promised child was not Isaac, but Ishmael. according to the bible, Ishmael is the son of the Egyptian slave- Hagar. By this distortion, Islam claims that they are the true heir of the promise of Abraham and not the Jews. The coming of Jesus which didn't disenfranchise the Jews, however exempted the Muslims from the covenant completely.

This is a major bone of contention between the lovers of Jesus and Muslims. Jesus made it clear that if you will partake of the promise of Abraham, you have to go through Him. This is considered offensive by Islam that eventually came up many centuries later. The religion pioneered by a man from Mecca (present day Saudi Arabia). Islam is constructed in a manner that it regards Jesus as a prophet and nothing more.

So, the battle of the Middle East has shifted from just land and supremacy among brothers to supremacy of religion. It's no longer battles between Abraham and Lot, Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau, it is now between lovers of Jesus and haters of Jesus. Jesus has become the dividing line in the present day middle East. For the sake of Abraham and David, the Jews still carry a shadow of the covenant, but the substance of the covenant now belongs to the Christians. In the next post, I will write on the importance of the Jews in the last days

Prophetic Perspective: Israel vs Iran

The middle east situation between Israel and Palestine is a very complex one that can be viewed from many sides. Whichever perspective you choose, there will always be an unresolved issue. It is exactly a year that Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine, dealt the biggest blow ever to the Israeli state, killing over 1000 Jews and abducting about 251. It sent a shock wave round the world. The October 7, 2023 attacks kick-started a war that has escalated to involve Lebanon, Syria, Qatar and Iran. Israel has gone all out attacking Palestine in a wave that many world leaders have been cautioning them to consider the civilians. ORIGIN OF THE WAR The origin of the war in the middle east can be traced back to the 1920s when Britain, in conjunction with the Arabs defeated the Ottoman military in Jerusalem and took the city as a colony of the British royalty.  It wasn't long before the British decided to release the land to the Arabs that fought alongside them. But, there was another set of ...

Nigeria In The Bible

As we approach another celebration of the independence of the nation Nigeria, I will like us to know some things about this nation that the LORD has shown me. If a man wants to know the details of God's will for his life, he would need to read the things that have been written or said about him by God. Prophecy is one of the ways that the will of God can be known. Prophecy is voicing God's will. This same principle applies to territories as territories also have a will established by God for them to fulfill. In the scriptures, we see details of many nations that existed in that time. Nations like Israel, Egypt, Syria, Edom, Philistine, Babylon and in the new testament, we saw countries like Italy and Spain which still exists till today. Most of the nations that were mentioned in the old testament bear a new name today. There were some nations mentioned in the old testament, but their names were not specified. God, through the prophets spoke about the destiny of some na...

Nine Years As A Scribe

So, last night, I was meditating about the things that God is doing in this times and it dawned on me that we are in a period where our minds are being bombarded with images, video and text. We are in the greatest period of media height. Everywhere you turn, you see something waiting for your mind to feed on. You're not free at any point in time from the floods coming from the various platforms. Majority of the contents in recent years are immoral and the cry for biblically sound and creative content has been going on for some years. Thank God for the success that we have recorded in the past few years. The media is being used to project several images into our minds. I did a small social experiment last month. I was speaking to a group of young boys in a school about Bobrisky. I asked how many of them would like to be like him and no one raised hand. Then I changed the question and said that if I tell you that I would give you 1 million every month and all I want from you is to be...
