Topic: Jesus, The Pattern (Part 2)
Text: Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,
Last time, we considered Jesus as our pattern. We will continue to look at that truth as it is becoming more important that we are established in the truth of God's word more than in any other form or source of knowledge.
The writer of Hebrews constructed the book in an argumentative manner where Jesus was the subject from the beginning to the end. This pattern can also be seen in all the books of the bible. From Genesis, God had been talking about Jesus through the stories of the life of the men that were available at that time.
Stories of men like Adam, Abel, Seth, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob(Israel) all typified Jesus. Even men like Joseph pointed to the Messiah that was coming. The same pattern exists in all the other books of the bible.
Our calling as believers is to become like Jesus, so when we read the stories of all other men on the bible, our aim is to see Jesus in them. We don't study them outside of Jesus, but we study them as a type of Jesus.
I urge you to make this the foundation of your study life such that whenever you're studying the bible, you're always looking for Jesus for we are called to be like Him.
Have a great week
