One of the most abused creation of God is the woman. The woman have been seen through a lot of shades in different settings. Some shades are nothing short of barbaric. I find it very interesting that the devil is very much after the woman even from the beginning.
Last month, a news broke about the making of a sex doll that is meant to replace the woman in the house. The sex doll is simply a sex machine that of course, cannot nag or ask for money. You get? To some, its worth it. Someone has even divorced his wife to get one.
There is this part of the woman that I always cherish anytime I see it and that aspect is what I see evidently in the life of a bible character- Jochebed. Jochebed occupies a very special place in my heart because of the role she played in the life of her son- Moses.
Moses was born at a time when Egypt had enslaved their visitors- Israelites. Pharaoh had commanded his soldiers to kill every baby boy born by the Israelites. Jochebed knew this. When she gave birth to her baby and saw that it was a boy. She didn't give him up to Pharaoh's men to kill and throw into the Nile.
The bible said that Jochebed saw that her baby was 'beautiful'. In another place, the bible said that she saw that the baby was 'goodly'. Jochebed saw beyond the natural into the purpose of God for her son. She knew the prophetic destiny of the baby in her hands. I find that very inspiring.
Many mothers today behave like a sex doll who is simply a sex machine. A true mother should be able to decipher the purpose of God for her children just like Jochebed. For 3 months, she held him tight and kept him away from the patrolling soldiers. Surely, Moses must have cried during that period, yet he was kept safe. How many mothers can provide supernatural protection for their babies? Jochebed was simply wonderful.
To crown it all, Jochebed created an ark, placed Moses into it and set it over the Nile River. For me, that's a height that I cannot just overlook. The same Nile that had swallowed other kids lifted Moses. Then, the unbelievable happened.
I can keep quiet if any other person had picked up Moses, but for the daughter of Pharaoh to pick him up and adopt him, I'm gonna scream! Why didn't the soldiers pick up the ark? Why did Pharaoh allow his daughter to keep a Hebrew baby he had commanded to kill? Why did Jochebed put Mariam to watch over Moses? Why did Jochebed choose the Nile River to put Moses?
Jochebed went against the law of the land, prevailed over the law of the land and the law of the land sponsored her to do the will of God. Jochebed set into motion the purpose of God for the life of her son even when he was just 3 months old! That's my definition of a mother; a woman.
Too many mothers are playing the role of a "sex doll" in the purpose of God for their children. Be a Jochebed!
