My Master and His God

It seemed like I just started sleeping when I began to hear Camels bleating and sounds of arrangement. I struggled with the thought of getting up as I wondered what the day was going to look like. The previous day was a hectic one. We packed all our belongings for a mysterious journey. After a while I stood up to peep through the window to see if the other servants had packed everything remaining so that I would just join in when we are about to leave. The ray of light that entered my room was really scotching and I knew that whoever was “upstairs” really hated my master.

Back to my bed, I began to wonder the kind of god my master had just found that commanded him to leave his father’s land and all the wonderful things he had around and go to a place that is not mentioned. ‘Which direction are we going to head to?’ ‘What kind of a god gives this kind of command?’ ‘I hope master has not gone mad?’ ‘Maybe his barrenness is beginning to touch something in his brain.’ I thought of my new girlfriend. ‘Does it mean that I won’t see her again?’ As I was thinking, I began to hear some sounds behind my door. It sounded like gossip. I tip-toed to my door to eavesdrop. I knew they would be talking about this new development.

It all started like a rumor, but it became real when our master confirmed it in a meeting. He said we would be leaving the village to a place that his god would show him. He asked everyone to believe that there is a city already built by his god. The news spread fast across the village. My master is a very wealthy and influential man. His departure means a lot to everyone. To think that his journey doesn't have destination gave us serious concerns. He nailed the matter when he said "we won't be coming back here". Everyone tried to speak sense into him.

‘His father has called the elders of the land to try to talk sense into him. I hope he listens to them’ a voice said. ‘Good. He must listen because I cannot leave this place and start moving to a place that has no destination’ another voice replied. The thought of a hope of not leaving my girlfriend made me jubilate behind the door. I silently prayed to whichever god was listening to make our master listen to the elders of the village. While jubilating, I heard the voice of the chief servant calling on us all to come out and prepare to set out pending when the meeting will come to an end.

My heart beat became loud as I saw the elders come out of the house where the meeting held. I expected the announcement of the cancellation of the trip. The villagers had all gathered; many of them shaking their head. It was as if my master was under a spell. Leave your house for the desert? My master is a good man, but this ‘misfortune’ is too much. The whole village was mourning and hoping this last meeting will take away the spell.

Alas, my master announced, ‘I have heard God and I will obey’. With that statement, we marched out into the wilderness. I saw my girlfriend looking at me as if I was walking down the aisle with another lady. Many people cried. I felt sorry for them, but for my master, I just prayed (this time to his God) that his faith would work.

Despite all odds, Abraham obeyed....

Prophetic Perspective: Israel vs Iran

The middle east situation between Israel and Palestine is a very complex one that can be viewed from many sides. Whichever perspective you choose, there will always be an unresolved issue. It is exactly a year that Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine, dealt the biggest blow ever to the Israeli state, killing over 1000 Jews and abducting about 251. It sent a shock wave round the world. The October 7, 2023 attacks kick-started a war that has escalated to involve Lebanon, Syria, Qatar and Iran. Israel has gone all out attacking Palestine in a wave that many world leaders have been cautioning them to consider the civilians. ORIGIN OF THE WAR The origin of the war in the middle east can be traced back to the 1920s when Britain, in conjunction with the Arabs defeated the Ottoman military in Jerusalem and took the city as a colony of the British royalty.  It wasn't long before the British decided to release the land to the Arabs that fought alongside them. But, there was another set of ...

Seven Years In Christ- Friends

After an official meeting with executives of tacsfonOAU When I resumed for the second year in college, I saw a result of the previous year and it was 39%. I couldn't believe what I saw because it was definitely not commensurate with my efforts. I wept quite bitterly and promised God that He wouldn't see me around any of His assignments again. I just joined a subgroup in my fellowship and I expected that my results will be better because of the several testimonies that I have heard from people. As I was weeping, God directed three friends to visit the spot where I was weeping. It was a miracle that I wouldn't forget. They consoled me and encouraged me to take a step of checking the result with the coordinator of the course. Eventually, my result was changed to 62%. This is one of the many times that the Lord has used brothers and sisters around me to stabilize me and keep me in line with His purpose. The role they have played in my last 7 years cannot be written in ...

Can You See Islam Imploding?

Islam has taken a major stage in the world today, with many western nations trying to find their feet in the face of millions of immigrants from Islamic nations. Several European countries are losing their own culture as the Islamic wave is taking over their lands already. While in Africa, nations are embroiled in Islam related conflicts that is claiming lives in millions. In many places, Muslims have become citizens and are beginning to contest for political offices. The current mayor of London is a Muslim. Same with the current mayor of New York. Scotland already had a Muslim PM. You see, there is no issue with a Muslim becoming a political leader other than the fact that true Muslims are territorial; their religion teaches them that the religion of the ruler is the religion of the land. Is this Islamophobia? Wait. What is Islamophobia? Why should anyone be Islamophobic? Is it because terrorists are Muslims? Or because Muslims threaten to slaughter anyone who slanders their religion?...
