I wondered what made Nebuchadnezzar build that image that he wanted everyone to start worshipping. He has already conquered a lot of lands at this point, yet he molded an image and made everyone to worship it.
More astonishing is the fact that he just saw a public display of the wisdom of the God of the Jews in the matter of his dream that Daniel interpreted. I don't know the number of months or years between the two events, but I don't expect him to forget what made him prostrate before a slave in public so soon.
His inconsistency with the God of the Jews played out again after the event of the fiery furnace. When you read that part of the bible, you will wonder how he got to know who the fourth man in the fire was. He was so shocked that he commanded everyone to respect the God of the Jews. Yet, this man lost it again.
It was in the account that looks like his autobiography that showed how the heavens intervened in his life and taught him a lesson he couldn't forget before his mind was finally set on God. In that account, he mentioned how a Watcher from heaven pronounced judgment on him.
Despite the consistent display of the power of God at a National level in Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar was very inconsistent. "Watchers" is a company of heavenly beings. I know that there are Angels in this company, but I believe that some men are also part of this company.
We know that the heavens do not interfere until a man agrees to pray. Someone must have been praying concerning the situation in Babylon and this warranted the coming down of the Watcher who came to establish the decree of the Watchers!
In intercession, we must firstly align with the will of God and then enforce this will. We must be deliberate about our prayers concerning the coming elections. We have just 12 months to go. We must make demand on the counsel of the Father in Nigeria. There are Watchers in Nigeria who must make decrees of what they have heard in the council meetings above!
