I walked into a bookshop in Lagos with the intention of getting a material that can help my intercession. I really didn’t have any author in mind. Walking along, I saw a book by a cherished woman of God- Cindy Jacobs. The title sounds more like something I’ll like to have- Possessing the gates of the enemy. Forwarded by Peter C. Wagner, I knew it would be a memorable one. Little did I know that it would be blockbuster! The book was not just a material, but a full package experience. I had several times of repenting to do. Several moments of praying and of course, dreams. The day I read the final page was even more interesting. I could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit anointing me afresh for the work of intercession. I think it is safe for me to say that I didn’t just read the book, I entered it.
It is my first Cindy Jacobs book. I have followed her online for years and I have engaged her prophecies in prayers severally. The starting tone of the book is so soothing that I was felt like I was licking butter. It didn’t carry the warfare tone, but a gentle one. A gentle wave was all over me; a witness that the author carries what she is talking about.
The book is a manual for intercessors and prayer leaders and by extension, every soldier in the army of God. She begins by heralding the call to intercession; explaining how much intercession is needed in our world today. She explains her she grew in the ministry of intercession over several decades. I really felt honoured by the story as it felt like she was narrating to only me. She went on to share about the process of intercession, the language of intercession and the manifestations of intercession.
A junction I enjoyed so much was where she explained the pitfalls of intercession. She called it flaky grounds of intercession. This was where she explained the meaning of witchcraft as practiced by prayer people. Another major lesson I learned from the book is the place of prayer partners for intercessors. You see, Cindy Jacobs brings alive intercession with her ministry. She backs up every notion with stories that sends chill down the spine of readers. It brings a high dose of encouragement alongside.
She rounded up the book by explaining prayer watches, prayer gates, prayer walks and militant intercession. To organize intercession for a region, program, family or individual, she provided templates to run with according to the bible. You will learn about the true role of prayer coordinators, prayer leaders and prayer captains. I have always believed that I know about intercession, but this book humbled me a whole lot. Many of the vocabulary that fly around intercessors were broken down scripturally and backed up with true life stories. I am still marveled. Intercession is a business of knowledge first. I am grateful for the gift of Cindy Jacobs.
If you are an intercessor, I encourage you to get this book. I consider it a main textbook for intercessors.
