Matthew 24:1-2 Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not [one] stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." Matthew 24 is one of the profound chapters in the gospels that gives an account of what to expect in the last days. The chapter also explains the arrangement of events that will lead to the close of this age. The chapter begins with the disciples of Jesus admiring the temple in Jerusalem, but to their surprise, Jesus told them that the temple would be destroyed so much that one stone will not be placed on another. To a Jew, this is a very offensive statement because they consider their temple a sacred building where God dwells.
